  • 6 Tools you need to start making videos

    success with savitha

    By Jivitha Shobashree

You guys want to start making videos for YouTube, Instagram or another platform.

If yes, ask yourselves these question

    • Will I make videos consistently?
    • Do I have the right tools for the content I want to create?
    • Will I continue to use these tools?

You do not need to spend a fortune on buying equipment, here is what you need:

    1. CAMERA

If you’re making videos obviously you’d require a camera. The cameras present on your phones both apple and android have a good quality which you can start off with.

If you want a better camera quality you can buy cam recorder, webcam, action camera, mirror less camera or a DSLR.

    1. MICROPHONE

Your audio quality should be good so that it compliments your video.

Often the phone’s audio quality isn’t that great so buying an external microphone would be better.

You can start off with a USB microphone, its affordable and has a good sound quality.

If you want a highly versatile and high-quality audio you can go for Shotgun microphone or lapel microphone.

    1. TRIPOD

No one likes to see an unsteady video, no matter how good your camera is you need proper stabilization of your camera. The tripod can increase your video quality.

    1. LIGHTING

Without proper lighting people get distracted and lose interest in watching. The lighting improves the final quality of the video.

You can buy softbox, umbrella lighting, ring light or on-camera lighting.

    1. VIDEO EDIT

Video editing is like icing on the cake, it is a very essential part of video making. You need to find good editing software post-production.

Adobe premiere pro, Final cut pro X are some of the top video editing software.

invideo, imovie, Videopad etc. are some of the free video editing software available.

    1. MEMORY CARDS

Too many videos and photos can take up your storage so the best way is to store them in memory cards.

You can shoot long videos without having to worry about running out of space.

    What comes first?

No matter how great or expensive your tools are at the end of the day people come to see videos because of your content. So you should make sure that your content is great others are secondary.

You can start off with the basic camera you have on your phone and a video editing software. If you decide to take your videos to the next level you can then up-level your equipment as well.

  • 7 Habits that made Steve Jobs remarkable

    success with savitha

    By Jivitha Shobashree

There have been many entrepreneurs and CEO’s who have all been through failure and defeat, broken through those glasses/risen from the ashes and are now successful. One name which stands out from the others is the tech titan: Steve Jobs

    Steve Jobs requires no introduction.

His name inspires and intimidates at the same time.

He was a charismatic pioneer, widely considered a visionary and genius.

He was the founder of Apple along with Steve Wozniak and also the founder of PIXAR.

Yet, before all of this he was also a person struggling to make a sense in this world. While Steve Jobs was trying to achieve his goals, he also went through struggles and hardships and tried hard not to let his stress, anxiety and fear overwhelm him.

To overcome these feelings and to achieve your goals is to have the right set of habits.

So here are some habits which made Steve Jobs remarkable.

    1. ATTENTION TO DETAIL

One of the most important traits of Steve Jobs is his attention to detail. His work experience with his father instilled in him the importance of this which later paved way to his success. Attention to detail is essential where errors can be costly in an organisation. Steve Jobs meticulous nature is what made his ideas and visions into a well-executed plan.

In the words of Steve Jobs – “Details matter, it’s worth waiting to get it right”

    1. DON’T GIVE UP

Everyone has their own set of failures and difficulties but rising above them is what makes you different from the others. Steve Jobs was an orphan and college dropout but that didn’t stop him from dreaming big. Overcoming those struggles, learning from them and to never lose hope is one of the mantra.

In the words of Steve Jobs – “Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don’t lose faith.”

    1. SET NEW GOALS

Steve Jobs used to set goals for the long term and short term. It helped him in strategizing and planning things out on the long run.

When Jobs was fired from Apple by his own (CEO), he still didn’t lose hope and started another company NeXT which later on merged with apple and Jobs came back to his beloved company.

Therefore setting new goals and learning to move on was key.

    1. LEARN FROM YOUR FAILURES

Steve Jobs was a perfectionist and his meticulous nature was not appreciated by everyone. He used to fire people who couldn’t meet his idea of perfection but after he was fired from his own company, he learnt from his mistake and started pushing people to achieve the impossible.

Like people say don’t take failure as the end but take it as the beginning of something new.

In the words of Steve Jobs – “Life goes on and you learn from it.”

    1. SURROUND YOURSELF WITH THE RIGHT PEOPLE

Apple was founded not just by Steve Jobs alone but with a great partner Steve Wozniak.

You need to find the right people or partner in your life to be successful.

The people who you surround yourself with will either make or break your life.

    1. TAKE RISKS

You may have the opportunity to try something you love and are excited about.

Sometimes the situation cannot always be in our favour we might face rejections or failures but without trying we won’t know what the future holds for us.

    1. BE OPTIMISTIC

Steve Jobs was adopted, he had a difficult childhood but that didn’t stop him from achieving the impossible. It is important to always be optimistic it helps you to have a clear view of things, to make decisions and focus on what’s important.

    The biggest problem?

Habits can’t be developed overnight, you will have to consistently build it.

It should be fostered, cultivated and nurtured.

In the words of Steve Jobs – “In the first 30 years of your life, you make your habits. For the last 30 years of your life, your habits make you.”

  • 3 ways to build your network in 2021

    networking

    By Bhumika Ramesh

Your success might just depend on those people you know!

Most of us know that networking is an essential task to keep up with connections: The right people can lead you to the right places. It is one of the most important assets in your business. Before progressing any further, let’s take into account the years 2020 and 2021, where a lot of social meetings couldn’t take place due to the restrictions. How do you go about building your network then, especially if you aren’t a people person?

To help you build a stronger network, here are a few tips:

    • Stay up to date in your field!

As you start building networks, it’s important to stay on top of the news in your relevant industry or field. Read those newspapers, subscribe to newsletters and keep up with some of the big speakers and influencers in your field. Use Twitter, Instagram or LinkedIn regularly. Interaction can help you develop new networks and possibly acquire new clients.

By staying up to date, you can effortlessly bring these topics into conversations with new people online or start them out as ice-breakers!

    • Construct win-win situations.

When both parties gain something from the interaction, it’s a much more beneficial situation. In doing so, both parties feel useful and the other person may reach out to you for more opportunities in the future. Building these long-term relationships goes a long way, especially in a business-oriented field.

    • Re-connect.

Nobody likes that one friend who decides to contact us after years for a small favour. We typically don’t want to go out of our way for them. To avoid this situation, follow up with people you meet. Talk with them regularly, and stay in contact with them.

Social media can help you do so too. Sustaining relationships makes the other person turn out to be more favourable to you in the future.

A strong and huge network can very well lift you to heights. Interacting with different people from different walks of life gives you an understanding of diversity. Different points of view help you expand your knowledge and so do your communication skills improve. To conclude, the process of networking is a pivotal factor in the life of any businessperson.

  • How to be a LinkedIn top voice?

    linkedin top voices

    By Deepti Satish

LinkedIn is commonly known as an “online resume”. It does resemble a resume, it exhibits your schooling history, your work experience, skills, strengths, weaknesses etc.

But LinkedIn has emerged to be more than that,  it’s a networking site for business individuals and entrepreneurs helping them develop a brand, self-branding etc.

Every person on LinkedIn creates a chance to make their opinion known. They get to write article, posts, show off their skills, voice their opinions on certain situations.

Every year, LinkedIn honours over 300 writers by compiling a list known as the “Linkedin Top Voices.”

The LinkedIn top voices is a LinkedIn initiative that recognises influencers who succeed on the social media platform. They’re the ones who took advantage of every blogging feature—articles, posts, comments, and so on—and made their voices and viewpoints heard by everyone

The Top Voices on LinkedIn are chosen based on a set of parameters related to app engagement, including:

However, just posting consistently will not help you reach the top voices list. It’s all about connecting with people, communicating, networking, and creating a tribe.

People on the list have been very engaging and interactive with their audiences over the year via their posts.

    • Engagement provided by posts, including responses, comments, and shares across all content created by each member)
    • Follower growth over time-based on posting cadence – that is, how often and how much they post to LinkedIn

Linkedin has top voice lists for various categories. Such as:

Data Science and AI, Design, Education, Entrepreneurship and Small Business, Equity in the Workplace, Finance and Economy,  Frontline Health Care, Frontline Retail, Job Search and Careers, Marketing and Advertising, Sales, Sports, Technology

Things to consider if you want to be a top voice:

    1. Consistency is key: The more you write, the more your audience will recognise you. As a result of your consistency and interaction on the website, more users will reach out to you. People like it when you try to bring out more content and socialise with others, and this will draw them to your page.
    2. People crave real content: Viewers want to know how you feel and what your thoughts are on the topic. Raw content piques their interest further. They aren’t interested in reading any more cliched stories or blogs. Your audience will want to come for more if they savour your authenticity.
    3. Use hashtags to join in on public opinion. To join new, relevant audiences with your content, use three to five relevant hashtags in your posts. You will also join a feed and react/comment on discussions from the viewpoint of your company when you connect your LinkedIn Page with related hashtags in your Communities Hashtags panel, further introducing your brand identity to new, relevant audiences.
    4. Share a lot of video and visual content: Make sure you have a lot of eye-catching graphics in your marketing mix. Unique imagery, especially videos, stands out more on feeds, making your brand (and Page) stick out.

Some of LinkedIn top voices 2020 are:

    1. Hansi Mehrotra – Founder, The Money Hans
    2. Kamalika Paddar – Manager – Business Intelligence, Axis Bank
    3. Nischala Murthy Kaushik – Global Marketing Director – CTO office, Wipro
    4. Ritu Anand – Chief Leadership & Diversity Officer, TCS
    5. Sugandha – Project Manager, Title operations, Netflix
    6. Roopa Kudva – MD. Omidyar Network India
    7. Abhijit Bhaduri – Founder & CEO Abhijit Bhaduri & Associates
    8. Aditya Vivek Thota – Software engineer, Visa

  • How to create a good bio?

    By Athena Joseph

    1. INTRODUCE YOURSELF

It is very obvious that people who view our bio would spare only a few seconds to look into it. And these few seconds marks the first impression. So, it is very necessary that we introduce ourselves in a short and crisp way but also makes ourselves clear to the reader. Clearly communicate who you are and what you do in a line or two.

    1. SHOWCASE THE “CAREER EXTRAS’

Adding a few extra points about your career helps you to stand out from the rest. This may include civic activities, awards and recognitions, volunteering, or cultural skills like language or travel. It may also include other interests or activities that may show leadership, character, or qualities you feel are beneficial to your career.Feel free to add an extra bulletin for these.

    1. USE STRONG ACTION WORDS

Action verbs start each sentence off with a bang! Writing long sentences full of dull descriptions does nothing to capture interest. Strong action words, however, are a far more persuasive language tool that allows you to be concise and impactful. They paint a vivid picture of your experience and achievements in a different perspective.

    1. START OR END WITH YOUR STRONGEST POINT

Most of the readers tend to start reading the bio and eventually skip the content right in the middle and jump to what’s on the last. Hence, it is important to lead or end your bio with the strongest points about yourself or the work you’ve done.

    1. STAY DISTINGUISHED

It is equally necessary that you stay out distinguished from your fellow mates and peers. This could be done by including points like describing a challenge or problem that you overcame, naming the tangibles that you have produced i.e products, publications, brand etc. The most necessary point is to be specific about yourself and everything else that you’ve written in your bio.

  • 5 Tips to have an organised digital life

    digital detox

    By Jivitha Shobashree

We all like our houses to be neat, clean and organised. We take in the effort to remove all the unwanted stuff. It will be the same in our digital life as well. All our digital devices needs to be organised and arranged.

The other need for an organised digital life is that it saves time. Digital Declutter slows down your productivity and makes your computer slow due to the excess storage present in your devices.

These days our devices are used as storage for all aspects in our digital lives. We tend to save things which we know we will never need or be able to find. Digital declutter is a phenomenon of poor device maintenance.

So in this post I will be explaining different ways to efficiently declutter your digital life.

    1. Documents/files

We save tons of our work documents and files thinking it will be of use one day but that one day will never come.

Try to remove these unnecessary documents or store them in an external drive. It will reduce your storage and you can easily access the files or documents which are of urgent need.

All of us have a backup of all our documents. First thing you need to do is segregate the ones required and the ones not required. Then delete all the not required documents and the backups.

If you have too many files, start arranging them in chronological order.

    1. Detox your email

We all get a lot of mails which we don’t read. And searching for the required mails is a tiresome process because it gets mixed up with all the unnecessary mails.

Hence organising your mails is essential. Unsubscribe to the news letters you don’t read, arrange your mails in different folders. Don’t read your mails as and when you get them keep a time slot for an hour or so to read and reply to the mails.

    1. Social media

I believe social media is a boon and bane. It can be very addictive to some people while the others make efficient use of it.

If using social media makes you sad the best way is to take some time of and try something new.

Organise your social media apps by either

    -Blocking feeds you don’t read.

-Unfollow people on your social media and be close to the ones who are close to you.

-Schedule a time to open your social media.

    – mute your notifications so that you don’t get distracted.

    1. Organised Photos

-First thing you all should do to organise your photos is to delete all the unwanted photos.

-Then start arranging your photos into different files and folders.

-Back your photos up into an external drive or other apps such as Google photos, iCloud etc.

-Delete the other photos on other devices.

    1. Unused Apps

We download so many apps as a one time use or thinking we’d use it again but how many of us continue to use those apps frequently?

Those apps are the unused apps.

Go through the apps you have in your phone and laptop/computer.

    -delete the unused apps.

-go to your settings and find out the app that you use less frequently, hide them or offload the app.

-then start organising your apps based on the usage and tasks performed.

    The conclusion

This digital age has been muddled and misguided.

With an explosion of apps and information it becomes difficult to keep track of what is required and what is not which ultimately leads to reaching your storage capacity.

That is when organizing your digital life comes into picture.

In the words of Francine jay

“Decluttering is infinitely easier when you think of it as deciding what to keep, rather than deciding what to throw away.”

  • How to start your email list?

    By Tanyika Rai

Email marketing is one of the best marketing strategies out there. No matter what kind of business you have, it’s always great to have an email list. It can help you convert subscribers into customers and helps you build relationships with them. You can also promote your business and advertise your products

Honestly speaking, if you don’t have an email list already you’re probably not doing it right. But don’t worry! I’m here to help with these quick and simple steps to start your very own email list.

Step 1 : Select an email marketing provider

First rule of business, if you’re going to set up an email list, you need to have an email marketing provider. You simply cannot just use your Gmail account.

Yow will probably be breaking email marketing laws if you just use your Gmail and it’s not the smartest thing to do when you’re building your email list.

There are tons of options out there, so do some research and find an email marketing provider that suits you and set up your account with the chosen e-mail marketing platform.

Step 2 : Create an opt-in form on your website

If you want people to be able to sign up to your email list through your website then you’re in need of an opt-in pop up form. A pop up form will provide your website visitors with a convenient way to subscribe to your email list and it will serve as a great tool for audience growth. It’s also a great way to share contact information.

Make sure to keep the description in your opt-in form short but sweet and engaging. You could choose an attractive headline or even a relevant tagline.

    Step 3 : Marketing Campaigns

Now this can be an optional step. If you would like to advertise your email list, maybe on your social media platforms, you can totally do it and it is a great way to grow your email list.

You can promote your email list on whatever platforms you use by describing in a couple of words what content your email list will have. Link the opt-in form to sign up in your linktree or bio (whatever is accessible to your followers) or using any other CTA – Call to action.

    Step 4: Welcome Email

Now that you have people signing up to your email list, you need to welcome them and the best way to do so is a welcome mail!

Most email marketing softwares have the option to send out a welcome mail that you can customize to your liking and will go out as soon as someone signs up for your email list.

First impressions matter, so make sure that your welcome mail is a little personal and overall friendly. It should make your subscribers want to remain subscribed and pique their interest.  Put in a little effort, thank them for subscribing, inform them of what they can expect in these mails and add a special little treat or freebie.

    Step 5 : Content Plan

Finally, plan out the content that you will share through your email list. First brainstorm and think of what you want to have in the emails. It could be a weekly newsletter, advertising a product, announcing any events that you’re hosting or when the next episode of your podcast is out.

Plan out everything that you will put out in that particular month or week and this will prevent any disasters. Try and send out a mail maybe every week so that your subscribers are happy with the content they are getting but do not spam their inbox.

Starting an email list will take some time and effort, especially trying to grow it. But in the end it will be worth it and you will be satisfied and content with the end result.

Adding freebies every once in a while is also a great way to keep your subscribers engaged and provide value.

Having an email list is one of the smartest marketing strategies that you should know about. Now you know how to start your own email list if you don’t have one already, go get started with it.

  • What can you learn from failure?

    failure

    By Bhumika Ramesh

“Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently”

    Henry Ford

Every single one of us has stared failure in the face at some point in our lifetime. You might ask yourself – What exactly is failure?

Failure, as defined by the Oxford Dictionary, fundamentally means a lack of success. This literal definition does not apply to many. Most of us see it as the end of the road or the mountain we can’t climb. However, every cloud has a silver lining – and so does any failure.

Failure has an astonishing potential to teach us. These teachings can very well be life-defining on the path to success.

Let’s go over some of the best lessons we can grasp from failure!

    • You begin to look at the hurdles in your path in a different light.

We, as humans, have a basic desire for instant satisfaction. When this isn’t achieved, we have the ability to look at the bigger picture and plan out our goals in a much better manner. When you fail, you realise that there are way more factors that can help you succeed and when approached differently, maybe in a more efficient manner too.

    • The word NO isn’t the end.

You start to understand closed doors can be opened – with a little bit of perseverance. You keep on going and pushing, no matter the number of rejections. Persistence is definitely a component of success. Rome wasn’t built in a day!

    • Failure changes what you value.

When you fall to the ground, perception changes. The things you most valued once may now be of no importance at all. Instead, unexpected qualities start to take the spotlight. The values you expected to matter in the long run, may have the rug pulled out from underneath their feet. On the path to success, change is definite; permanence is not.

    • You understand your emotions and learn how to cope with them in a better way.

When faced with failure, ugly emotions – anger, jealousy, irritation and others of the like surface. It’s hard to stay focused on the goal when these feelings wreak chaos on your well-being. Dealing with these feelings help us manage them far more effectively. When you start preparing your mind to be focused and restrain yourself from distractions, nothing is too hard or too far.

    • And probably the most important lesson of them all, you learn to never give up.

It might sound commonplace, but it is the truth. When you have the passion and the belief, no matter how many times you’re knocked over, you get up. You get up and stand again. You progress and walk forward.

Failure is definitely not what we cut it out to be. Nevertheless, it is inevitable, and in the face of it, we rise up – much stronger, knowing better and more passionate about our goals.
